1A. Naive- Adjective. To show a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment. 1B. Naive- When it comes to technology my parents are very naive. 1C. Naive- Children are very naive. 2A. Niche- Verb. A place or position. 2B. Niche- When my dad got his new job he said that he found his niche. 2C. Niche- When a teenager goes to college they usually try to find their niche. 3A. Obliterate- Verb. To destroy utterly, or to wipe out. 3B. Obliterate- Since the video game my brother was playing was a war game, his mission was to completely obliterate a city. 3C. Obliterate- Natural disasters can obliterate an ecosystem. 4A. Gratify- Verb. To give someone pleasure or satisfaction. 4B. Gratify- I woke up happy today, so I was determined to gratify someone. 4C. Gratify- I always try to gratify my parents. 5A. Infinite- Adjective. Goes on forever.
5B. Infinite- To my little brother an hour is infinite. 5C. Infinite- Numbers. 6A. Coefficient- The numerical factor of a term 6B. Coefficient- In 5a, 5 is the coefficient. 6C. Coefficient- www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/images/variable-constant.gif 7A. Multiplicative Inverse- Two numbers with a product of 1, also known as the reciprocal of a number. 7B. Multiplicative Inverse- 3/4 multiplied by 4/3 equals 1. 7C. Multiplicative Inverse- statisticslectures.com/images/inverse2.gif 8A. Identity- An equation that is true for every value of the variable. 8B. Identity- 19+0=19. 4x1=4 8C. Identity- study.com/cimages/multimages/16/ai_pic_4r.png 9A. Null Set- An empty set, meaning there is no solution for an equation. 9B. Null Set- {} is a null set. 9C. Null Set- images.slideplayer.com/5/1482970/slides/slide_7.jpg 10A. Properties- Statements that are true for all numbers. 10B. Properties- Associative, identity, and commutative are examples of properties. 10C.Properties-www.mathatube.com/sitebuilder/images/addition_properties-777-600x339.jpg 11A. Embody- Verb. Be an expression of or give a tangible or visible form to. 11B. Embody- My friend was embody when she figured out how to do a math problem. 11C. Embody- I thought of a way to do something. 12A. Exasperate- To irritate intensely or to infuriate. 12B. Exasperate- Since me dog exasperates, we wouldn't give him a treat. 12C. Exasperate- I made my sister really mad. 13A. Fiasco- A thing that is a complete failure, especially in a ludicrous or humiliating way. 13B. Fiasco- My art work was a complete fiasco. 13C. Fiasco- I was up to bat, but I failed horribly. 14A. Garnish- Decorate or embellish something, especially food. 14B. Garnish- After I finished drawing I decided to garnish it with color. 14C. Garnish- When we went to the fancy restaurant the food was decorated. 15A. Heritage- Property that is or may be inherited. 15B. Heritage- In a monarchy, you get power through heritage. 15C. Heritage- I inherited my grandmas necklace. 16A. Plate- In geology, a theory that the Earth's lithosphere is divided into a number of large, platelike sections that move as distinct masses. 16B. Plate- There are seven major tectonic plates on Earth. 16C. Plate- Causes earthquakes. 17A. Ring of Fire- A major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur 17B. Ring of Fire- When I was studying geography, I learned about multiple earthquakes and volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean, called the Ring of Fire. 17C. Ring of Fire- A group of active volcanoes, where many earthquakes occur. 18A. Pangea- A hypothetical supercontinent that included all current land masses, and is known to exist before it broke apart during the Triassic and Jurassic Periods. 18B. Pangea- Society would be way different if the pangea still existed today. 18C. Pangea- A theory that all of the continents were one giant continent. 19A. Fault- A crack in a rock along which slippage has occurred. 19B. Fault- In science we were examining rocks, and one of the observations we had to make was if it had any faults. 19C. Fault- A fracture on a rock. 20A. Isostatic rebound- The rise of land masses that were depressed by the huge weight of ice sheets during the last glacial period 20B. Isostatic rebound- Isostatic rebounds occur when part of the lithosphere is added or removed. 20C. Isostatic rebound- Causes the lithosphere to rise or sink. 21A. Sympathy- Feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune. 21B. Sympathy- Sometimes people brag about being sad or something bad that happened to them to get sympathy from others. 21C. Sympathy- I felt really bad for my friend when her grandparents died. 22A. Empathy- The ability to understand and share the feelings of another. 22B. Empathy- When my friend broke her leg, I felt empathy for her because I have broken my leg before. 22C. Empathy- I knew what it felt like when my friend got a bad grade on her test. 23A. Apathy- Lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. 23B. Apathy- One of the students showed apathy during the lesson. 23C. Apathy- The topic we were talking about in science was boring, and I just didn't care about it. 24A. Connotation- An idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning. 24B. Connotation- Today I learned that feeling blue is a connnotation. 24C. Connotation- My brother was being childish. 25A. Denotation- The literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests. 25B. Denotation- If I'm using denotation, "You're a dog" means you are literally a canine. 25C. Denotation- Literal meaning.
