Who is my hero? My older sister, Kiley Baker, is my hero. Although the world threw everything it could at her, she's still successful in life. Through everything, the accident, a prosthetic, and multiple surgeries, she stayed positive. Her parents are my parents, Mike and Angie Baker, and I'm her younger sister and we both have a younger brother. She is currently working part time, going to college, and trying to set up an appointment to have surgery on her leg. Since there isn't many surgeons who can do this surgery, she has to set an appointment with a surgeon out of state. Once she goes through surgery she won't be able to walk for many months, and it could be that she can't walk for a year. Not only is she going through quite a bit now but she has always had to conquer something. Their characteristics and how they show them. Kiley's characteristics include being courageous, strong, and intelligent. She is strong and courageous because when Kiley was nine she went on a bike ride, but when she went to cross the street infront of our house she was hit. The vehicle that hit her was a dump truck. After the accident she had her left leg amputated. Since she needed serious medical care, she stayed at the Toledo hospital for more than three months. When she got out of the hospital she stayed in a wheelchair for more than eight months. Kiley then got a prosthetic leg that allowed her to walk again. Even after all that she went through she still wanted to be in a sport, so she tried out for cheerleading. She was a cheerleader all throughout high school, and she worked super hard at perfecting everything and creating cheers. What makes her strong is that even after the accident and while being a cheerleader, she still got good grades. Since she got such good grades, she got a lot of scholarships, but she didn't get a scholarship for disability. Why they are my hero and how they relate to my life.
Kiley is my hero because of how inspiring she is. Because she went through everything and still managed to get good grades, that makes me work hard at getting good grades too. Since she was a cheerleader and I thought she was a super cool cheerleader, I became a cheerleader. Although I didn't mention it in the other paragraphs, Kiley was also a great sister through all of it. She was a great sister because if I didn't understand my homework then she would help me with it, and while my parents worked through the day she became the parental figure. She's always put her family before herself and that shows selflessness, which is a good characteristic for everyday life. Overall, because of Kiley, I work harder to improve everything I can, so I can become as successful as she is.

Great post about Kiley, she is a great role model for you! I had the privilege of having her as a student in 3rd grade for a while. I thought you did a nice job of elaborating on her characteristics and attempted to write more complex sentences. Good Job!
